I just took a look at that link, it is helpful but I am looking for specific specs. and differences between each cpu, which I'm guessing might be hard or impossible to find. I know the original manufacturers and aftermarket chip vendors like to keep them secret.

The shops that have reverse engineered the stock ECU do need to recoup their R&D.

The easier way is to go to a stand-alone.

The CPU is the body computer and has no error codes other than buzzers.

The ECU is the engine computer.

So since the car has a CPU and a ECU, how are we to figure out just what your talking about if you don't define better what your talking about?

All Haynes manuals should be burnt or turned into beer coasters. That's all they're good for.

I agree about the haynes manuals and I was just trying to say that it was an honest mistake I'm used to working on many different cars and they all call it something different. Also I don't care what your FAQ says it's not the be all, end all of general automative abbreviations and acronyms!
