does anyone know the size of the nut on the TPS adjustment screw?

I didnt even know there was a nut on the screw till I popped the hood on my automatic 90 GXL when I got it back from the muffler shop today.

I had to yank off the nut and put it on my 90 GXL 5spd so that it would hold the correct TPS setting. hopefully that will solve my problems. as of last start about 1 hour ago, it started fine and idled fine.

now I need to replace the nut on my automatic car so I can sell it and have it run right. currently runs damn good for auto.

thanks

Mike

maybe not on yours but there is on mine. I know I am not the only one cause I read a post on FC3.org and in the direction on setting the TPS it had in black & white to tighten the nut after you had set the TPS.

My auto had one but the 5 spd was missing it.

Geargrabber- I am not that stupid. In order to do that I would have to remove the screw from the TPS assembly and take it with me. as I stated the car is about to be sold and it is running good and so I didnt want to mess up the tps as it was already good. With as mutch headache as the idle is on these cars I did not want any problems out of this one. cant sell the car if it runs like sheet.
Otherwise I WOULD TAKE IT TO THE HARDWARE STORE AND TRY THEIR NUTS. I guess you felt you just had to state the obvious like only you had that insight

calm down there guy, he was only trying to help. just put a wrench on there and buy the same size nut as corresponds to the wrench that fits on the nut, i dont think any of us would know the exact measurement at the top of our heads. you might wanna ck the FSM too

cant just put a wrench on it because that has nothing to do with the thread size of the screw . i have a ton of nuts at home but the threads are not the same. they do not match the threads on the screw.

I thought somebody might have a screw available to check the size instead of me having to mess up a good running tps just to get the screw out and take it to the store.

I guess I will just have to remove it and reset the tps.
