Couple timing bugs

So basically, 87 n/a the timing wont advance as the revs rise, the leading and trailing fire at the same time and for it to run properly it has to be advanced a a decent amount.
Any ideas?

Did you ground the initial set coupler? It won't advance with it grounded. It should hop around a good bit without it (and make it impossible to set).

Explain a bit more. Is the engine fully warmed up. Matters.

How high are you reving it in the driveway?

A/C and Pwr Steering off/not turned? I'd bet so, just asking because they have a small effect a times.

The Lead and Trail have the same timing During Start, but not after. Just FYI and probably not your *problem*.

I can bring it right up to 7 grand and it still wont advance at all.
my power steering does not work for some reason buit there is fluid and it is hooked up?
it wont fully warm up. its almost as if i have a colder thermostat, it goes 2/3 to almost half way.
the crank sensor has to be fully counter clockwise to line up with the timing marks, but its slow as *****.
I am currently running it half way as to which was the cas can be turned. it is a couple cm away from the timng marks.

Have you tried to reinstall the CAS to how the FSM describes?

Is this a rebuilt engine? Recent rebuild?

IF you can't reinstall the CAS again and get the right results, you might consider someone put the wrong series pulley on the front. A known reason for the marks not aligning.

Go to your car. Align the first mark on the pulley with the fixed pin on the front cover.

NOw remove the black cover off the top of the CAS. Just two small phillips screws.

Look at the top two TEETH on the rotor of the CAS. Now compare where YOUR teeth are compared to the jpg attached. ONE of the two TEETH should be cutting across the corner of the black reluctor on the left of the jpg attached. This represents the thing having been installed right or not.

The jpg attached was made with the CAS laying on top of a scanner and the thing rotated just a smig. That is why I wrote words on the jpg indicating the tooth should be cutting across the edge of the reluctor IF the CAS was installed right.
