Couple of problems...please help?

I picked up an 86 rx7 gxl. It didnt start for 2 hours cuz it was flooded. the seller had a fuel pump killswitch so we would turn off the pump(to get the gas out of the engine he said) while cranking then flick it on...after a while it started(lots of white smoke out the pipes). All was good till i got halfway home when it overheated hardcore and the overflow tank was bubbling and shooting water and the cap on the top left of the engine was shooting water...I had been running it at low rpms before that but someone told me today: "It's a rotary! u gotta keep the rpms high to keep it cool!"....idk if thats true but i didnt try it yet...I had already planned on getting an all new cooling system so its ok if i buy stuff. It was flooded bad so i think maybe some new spark plugs are in order because i couldnt pull the egi comp fuse(i think its called)....Any one have any help please?

Your friend- "It's a rotary! u gotta keep the rpms high to keep it cool!"- has a feeble grasp of thermodynamics, do not trust him near a teapot.

Before you install the "all new cooling system" (by which I assume you mean thermostat, rad cap, rad, waterpump & belt) I'd find out if you have blown seals and are pressurizing the water loop.

If it has a fuel cutoff switch, just park it, don't turn the car off, and flip the switch. That will burn the remaining fuel.

And yeah, your friend is a moron.

And yeah.. Whats the mileage on it?

save the money from the cooling system and put it towards a new motor, welcome to the rotary world!

there, i said it. you're motor is toast with 99.9% certainty with all that was said. bad water seals and/or low compression. with everything that's going on it's highly unlikely that the injectors are sticking AND there is an issue with the cooling system overflow.

may as well save you the headache of wasting time and money on it. hopefully you got an awesome deal on the car.

Ya, i smelt in the coolant overflow tank and it smelt like fuel...the water system was definatly pressurized...So blown seals and everything huh...well its got 180k on it so i figured as much....I should probably not bother with rebuilding this then?

Your motor may be possible to rebuild. Never know until it's apart.

$25+SH and you'll be able to reassemble an engine. [I did it with just this video on my parents' garage floor]

..Or find a running used motor.

I am getting the car towed home monday and will start to tear down the engine after that...i'll take pics along the way so if anybody notices any problems they could point them out cuz the previous owners were retards. 1 owner was a 300lb white gangsta who listened to rap and couldnt drive well....wat does that tell u? haha. Wats the easiest/cheapest way to 200hp? N/A 2 or 3 rotor or T2 swap? And i have the tools to perform my own work so dont count labor costs for a shop unless its a tune...I'm new to the rotary game and im ready to learn as much as i can! Thanks for all the help guys, u guys are awesome!

180k is high mileage if it is the original engine, the housings will likely be in very poor condition with that many miles. you can buy a used set of housings for about $200 to build a decent motor. add on about $500 for parts for the rebuild and it isn't that bad to get it up and running if you do all the work yourself.

you can get close to 200 on an all motor without extensive work but that is about all you are going to get out of it without massive internal/external work.

Do a Compression test on the engine and a Pressure test on the cooling system. It may save you Big bucks if it is only Low coolant or a stuck thermostat.
Did you check the coolant before you started it?,or did you rely on your Friend with the mechanical skills of a French Poodle?
