Cosmo 13b-rew

what is the bare minimum to pull off a cosmo 13b swap in an fc3s, making it manual of corse?

do i need stand alone to run a manual tranny because the car only came auto?

is there a mount kit avalible in the states?

what about intercooler wise does stock motor have one?

banzai sells engine mounts. if you run an aftermarket flywheel, your manual trans will work with that engine. the stock engine has an ic but it(the piping at least) wont work on the fc. you will probably benefit from a standalone engine management setup. this has been done countless times before so pull up a chair and grab a cup of coffee and read

so stock ecu is out of the question? cant just slap a fd tranny clutch and flywheel? does the ecu need the auto tranny to function?

Swap is not worth it unless you have some special reason, that's why I asked why???

my biggest question and most needed answered is if the stock cosmo 13bre ecu is compatible with a fd3s tranny clutch and flywheel, as is when i drop the motor in if i can hold off on stand alone, cause funds will be tight? will upgrade to standalone later.

Me too!!! Well that's what I thought when I did it. Trust me not worth all the extra headaches and extra $$$ you need for it.

Anyway can't really answer your ecu question. However I'm sure you can run it off a t2 ecu. You would need to remove a lot of the misc unneeded ****. A little rewriting to the CAS and injectors, and other stuff I forgot.

you cant use an fd trans.. it wont bolt to the fc shell. nothing wrong with a decent t2 trans. and im sure you could use the fc computer if you move everything over to the re block but might as well take your time and do it right. even an e6k will handle it and they go almost daily for under 500$ with sensors and harness

You can run the 13BRE on the S5 TII ECU. Its not the best but it will get it running. I wouldn't continue using the TII ECU in a performance application for the 13BRE. Tight on funds? Then you shouldn't be doing this swap.

Even on the cheap side, you're looking around $3000-4000 for a good running 13BRE swap. To do it the right way, you'll have to tear apart the motor, port it, and at least replace the exhaust sleeves to make good top end power. In stock form, the 13BRE makes decent low end and midrange, but lacks in the upper RPMs.

Stick with the TII 13BT. Save yourself the headache.

Here was my 13BRE swap using a Motec M4 ECU.

you should be able to make the 13b-re run on any factory engine/wiring setup with enough wiring work and basic theory on automotive electrical systems. the real question is how well? a turbo setup should be able to run it okay, N/A ecu will probably have a rage if you let it see boost and the timing/fuel tables will be garbage.

Standalone is the best option but the most expensive assuming you already have the factory setup.

middle of the road option might be doing a "turbo swap" on the engine management (s4 IE 318 boost sensor, AFM, ecu etc...) and then rtek 2.1 or a combination of 1.8 and a piggy back (AEM FIC, apexi AFC, etc...) but by this time you'd probably almost have as much into it as a megasquirt or older haltech IMO
