Corksport oil cooler line issue

Ok so like alot of 2nd gen rx7's my oil cooler lines were pretty leaky and needed replacing. after reading tons of good reviews I went with the corksport SS lines. the bottom line bolted up and fit just fine as it should. but the top line that goes to the back of the engine will not fit without twisting it at a 90 degree angle. this causes a huge kink in the line and Im afraid it will puncture it as well. the banjo fittings on the line are in line with each other but need to be mounted at a 90 so it can connect to the cooler and the engine. is this an issue only I am having? or is this just how they come? anyone have any pics of how they have their corksport lines installed? any help is appreciated as ive been fighting it all day.

im sure you tried it already but did you unbolt the oil cooler and just put the banjo fitting in a few threads to get it all lined up? thats what i did. They are pretty stiff and arent very pliable.

already done. just wanted to see if this is a common thing or if my line was just a fluke.

and yes. Ive tried bolting to the cooler first, the engine first, flipping the line, etc. the only way to make it work is to twist the line 90 degrees. I twisted it halfway and it started to kink pretty good, so I stopped there and went to the internets to see what I may have done wrong, or if I have a defective part.

sounds defective at this point. Mine were maybe a few degrees off but not much to where it kinked. I would call corksport in the morning to see whats what and have them sort it out.

Good lord, don't let that armchair engineer with the -8AN line read about this or we'll all be in for a stern lecture and a 3-page thread...

I'm confused. The top line goes to the front of the engine, not the back. That's normally the one you have fitment issues with, due to the sharp bend at the top of the oil cooler beside the radiator support frame. I normally bend the oil cooler side as much as possible without actually putting a kink in it, and this allows you to install the oil cooler end and get around the radiator support frame, then make the connection to the engine last. They could do a better job of forming the fitting for the top of the oil cooler, though.

The bottom line usually fits fine. The connections to the oil cooler bottom port and the back of the engine that this line makes, are both parallel, facing the same direction. So, if the banjo fittings on the ends of the line are also both pointing the same direction, then the line pretty much has to fit and there is no reason to twist it.

wait, so are you saying that the short oil cooler line conects to the top of the oil cooler and not the bottom? this would potentailly solve my issue but thats not how the stock lines were fitted.

stock configuration:

top line banjo resting on the pole on the engine side about 45* perpendicular to the frame rail, short hose to front cover
bottom line, facing engine, long hose to rear iron

sounds like you just have them backwards or the oil cooler flipped upside down somehow.. but i don't see how because the crossbar is there. the oil cooler brackets face the front of the car, top line facing upwards, bottom line facing the frame, oil thermostat plug facing the ground.

^ very interesting. the oil cooler is not flipped around as the drain plug faces down on the drivers side as it should. hmm. I guess somehow the lines have been installed incorectly. The car has had a motor swap so its possible.
