Cooling issue Help Please

So today I noticed my state inspection ran out and decided its time for an oil change too. So I head up to Merchants tire and service, all was good until I get back into my neighborhood when the temperature guage is almost pegged and the idiot cluster is letting me know its really pissed. So I pull and the garage and the car starts billowing out smoke from the TMIC scoop and from all of the edges in the hood. Im like WTF!! So I wait a minute and open the hood and there is coolant everywhere. Come to find out the dumbass didnt tighten the radiator fill cap but had it in the first click position. So I wait about 30 mins try starting the car again and the temperature guage shoots straight up to the H. So I took a trip to Blackburg to pick up some S5 centercaps and get back just now.I try adding some more coolant/water and try to start it up and now the idiot buzzer goes off and the temperature guage doesnt even move. The only thing I can think of is the thermostat has gone bad. Any more ideas as to what the problem might be?

Thanks in advance!!

Buzzer going off indicates you have bubbles or low coolant in the radiator. You will need to purge/bleed all the air out.

I know this sounds like a stupid question but how do I get the bubbles out? Sorry for the stupidity but this is the first time I've ever had to do anything related to the cooling system.

just run the engine with the rad cap off and the heater in the on position and continue to ad coolant as need. it may boil over and if it does yoy just have to shut the car off and let it cool down then start it up again. if it boils over thats just the air inside the rad expanding

Thanks for the help guys, I had a neighbor car guru come down and he knew what to do right away. Afterwards we determined that the thermostat is stuck closed so I'll be getting a new one tomorrow and repeating all of the steps. Needless to say I wont be taking my car to this place ever again.

If the temp guage pegged wouldn't his engine be fucked now?

Sorry to say... but seriously if you didn't notice it getting that hot that amazing... rotary owners have to keep an eye on that at all times, imo.

Well Its only a five mile drive to the place where I had the work done and it was only pegged (at the line before you get to the H) for about 30 seconds. The guy who was "topping off the fluids" said he couldnt get the radiator cap off. He turned it to the left until it clicked and didnt realize that you have to then push it in again and turn left for it to come all the way off. So basically I drove it home with no pressure on the cooling system with the cap in the one click position. Hopefully my motor is ok otherwise Merchants will be buying me a new one.

No, you use the bleeders and bleed the air out.

Unscrew the highest bleed. Fill radiator, put the cap back on the radiator, squeeze the top radiator hose a couple of times, until coolant is flowing out the bleed. Put the bleed in, take the highest point cap back off, fill to over flowing. cap on. squeeze a couple more times, remove cap fill, repeat until you no longer hear air bubbles moving when you squeeze the top hose.

At no point should you have to run the engine with the cap off.
