No. It will turn on because the fan is not there.

ITs not the fan, Its the sensor. Do you still have it plugged in? If you do, when the cars gets over 180 something it will want to turn the fan on. But its not there, so, you e get the buzzer, telling you your fan didnt turn on. Good thing if you have a manual switch. Then you know when the car turns the fan on and you can flip it on. If your fan is always on, then you might not be cooling enough. That sounds about right.

turn on the fan?? i thought all fcs came with a clutch type fan that recieved no sort of electrical signil and rather "turned on" by the clutch warmin g up and engaging the water pump pulley its bolted to.

Its the A/C Fan warning light, telling you it is unplugged or broken, if you still have A/C you should reinstall it.

The cooling fan warning light has nothing to do with the A/C. If it did it'd be called the A/C warning light instead.

Then why's it in the 88 FSM? I'm pretty sure all S4's had it.

There is a clutch fan and then an electric fan in front of the A/C condenser. I am assuming that the light is for the electric fan in front of the A/C

Not up here. The only car I've found it on was an early S4 TII. No one else had ever seen one.

Look under the rad air redirect thingy. The black one in front of the car. There is a fan there to help with cooling.

If the warning light in the car is on, your fan isnt working. You have a sensor on top by the termostat (in the TII, should be around there in n/a) Its either unplugged, not grounding, or the sensor is bad. Or your fan is bad. When the warning light comes on (a bit above 180deg) it means your cpu or whatever controls it im not sure, but it tried to turn it on and didnt. So once your light comes on you need more cooling and probably will over heat soon. But not at the moment it comes on. Go to pick and pull and rip one off a 626 or something. There all the same. Or if you dont have the fan anymore, run a ground wire to it. I think that should stop it from coming on. But I dunno if thats a good idea. Keep an eye on your temps!
