Coolant warnings

originally my add coolant light came on and off and people recommended that I flush my coolant and hopefully remove any bubbles that were in it

I flushed the system and the light went off YAY!!

a couple weeks later it started coming on again in spurts, then more and more as time went by

now it is basically on the whole time I drive the car

is there any other recommendations on what to do about it, could it be a sensor issue, if I somehow did a terrible job flushing it how do I figure out if I do still have air bubbles in it??

as always I appreciate any help you can give me

Sounds like a leak of some sort, could be internal or external. Check all your hoses and make sure none of the hose clamps are lose or that any of the hoses are dry rotted. Also, check your oil to make sure you didnt lose and seal and the coolant is leaking into the engine. If the oil is like chocolate milk, you'll need to do a rebuild, but hopefully thats not the case.

Is your upper radiator hose sucking shut at night????

try replacing the radiator cap with a new one from the mazda DEALER...

also.. the system could just need "Burped"

When the car is cool.... take the car off of the top of the water neck (not the radiator) and fill er up there.

Also... check that heater hose that comes off the block under the oil filter.... it may have a pinhole in it that you are not noticing

That's where mine went bad. Ignore the red circle. You can see the hose where mine leaked and that YearsOfDecay mentioned. Kind of the top left of the circle. It leaked from the bottom.

alright I cant find anything leaking anywhere so hopefully thats good news

I did however notice that when I removed the radiator cap it was dry inside

the overflow reservoir was full, and for some reason it didnt take anything from it

--the car has just been sitting for a couple of weeks now because I dont want to break anything

I poured some more coolant directly into the radiator and ran it, seems fine as far as I can tell, but if that runs out I still dont think its going to pull anything in from the overflow

anyone have any ideas specifically what might be causing this, and how to check it?

and I know its been a while since I posted, but Iv either been away or ridiculously busy getting ready for finals

I'd guess that it might be the radiator cap like YearsofDecay said, if it's an overflow tank problem.

ok so I called the mazda dealer near my school and they said it would take 2-4 days for the radiator cap to come in, 4 days later when I called them back they told me that I had to pay before they would order it...

while I was waiting I cleaned mine off and it seems to be working fine so I never went down and ordered a new one.

now just about every time I check my overflow tank is just about empty, shes just guzzling down that coolant....

The coolant is going somewhere. Right? So it's either leaking or it's entering the engine internals and being blown out the exhaust. If you don't have smoke at the exhaust, it's a leak. Look for the telltale signs of coolant in the underbody pan or on the sides of the engine somewhere.

My Car seems to have a similiar issue. My Add Coolant light comes on. When I check the coolant level it's fine and none of the hoses are leaking that I can tell. I had the car checked at a local rx7 mechanic and he said there was no internal coolant leak and that the engine was fine. Then what the hell is making my Add Coolant light come on? Can it be an electrical problem? If anyone can help, I'd greatly appreciate it.

i had the same problem mid october. pull out the leading spark plugs and check the tips. if they are whiteish than you are burning coolant and are probably missing a seal somewhere. that wasnt the case on my car however. there was a small leak (i still dont know where) but it was dripping onto the exhaust manifold or something else and evaporating. there was never any coolant under the car after it had sit, so i bought some Bars Leaks and it seems to have fixed it. if that doesn't work, go to wherever you go and buy a cooling system pressure tester (20 bucks). that will show you any leaks unless they're internal (then you've got bigger problems. hope this helps
