Coolant system Pressure.

After having the car in the garage for 4 months without running it, i go to release the radiator cap and anti freeze went all over the place.

Is it normal to do that? It's the first time for me to see that happen when a car is cold. Shouldn't there be no pressure???

Did it blast out or fart out?

Farting out is normal. Blasting out is... weird. I wouldn't worry about it either way until you start the car. I'd suggest having someone else start the car while you stand behind it. Sniff the exhaust for the first few seconds. If it's sickly sweet, you're burning coolant.

Also, have the rad cap off when the 7 is started. After sniffing the exhaust, walk up to the engine bay. Is coolant blasting out? 'No' is the preferred answer. Bubbling and burping is normal...

I'm thinking you had a lot air In the system. Perhaps you were low In Coolant prior to start up?

The resevoir was at the cold (full) line. the radiator farted out like around 6 fl oz (guesstimate ) nothing crazy. New thermo, new water pump. The radiator is like 2 months used (brand new) prior to car being garaged, and so is the antifreeze. No leaks what so ever that i see. Engine bay is dry. never had to add coolant either those 2 month of usage prior to garaging. I let the farts out today, so hopefully tomoorw night when i open it up again it won't fart. I want to start the car soon, but i don't want **** to break

I just want to be on the safe side before starting her up again All other fluids are fine. Oil changed. Thx

LoS
