Coolant leaking from block to outside?

Can a failed water seal make coolant leak out of the block? It's not anywhere that the hoses connect that leaking... I'm stumped. I always have a wet area around the bottom of my oil filter.

Looks like oil.. but doesn't smell like it.. seems to be water of some sort? Could it be a mix of oil and coolant?

Well there is a drain plug on the driver side of the motor for coolant out of the block. Its located in the area where the driver side motor mount is and maybe it could be loose. You might wanna check that.

if its around the bottom of the oil filter, check the heater hose on the drivers side of the engine anyway. I constantly ahd coolant drips on the bottom of the bellhousing on my tranny. Turned out to be the drivers side heater hose....i never did find where the leak was on the hose..but it stopped getting low on coolant afterwards.

there is a heater hose under the oil filter as well as a temp sensor... either could spray up.

I had a motor that leaked outside the motor too..Top of the Back housing, and it would leak just a little and run down and that was it.....I didn't have to fill it back up or anything like that. I figure an outer water seal got pinched or the housing itself was cracked or wraped....It still ran strong though.....I thought I was alone on this ....I pulled off the manifold and ran a pressure tester on the radiator cap @ 12psi and watch it come out of the housing...It sucked but thats life...Good luck with yours

Completely clean and degrease the engine, then start it up and look for the leak. Most likely the heater hose.
