coolant flow direction

You know where the 90 degree coolant hose connects the engine block to the upper intake manifold? Does coolant flow up that pipe into the UIM? Or is it the other way around?

It supposed to connect to the BAC on the intake and then to the throttle body, and then to the back of the waterpump housing.

It starts on the outlet side of the pump housing.
Coolant flows from there to exit into the rear housing.

The water pump section, 3, of the fsm shows the water flows from the rear housing towards the water pump. Its shown in the free, online, FSM. Section 3 of the 87FSM.

You're right - it's rear to front.
I guess restoring an MG Midget has made me brain dead. The Brits do it the other way around.
