u need a a new heater core most likely, leaks under high pressure and you might need a new rad cap (cheap) and thermostat from mazdatrix, and a good flushing
pretty much a coolant system servicing with a heater core installed, i just happen to have a heater core i willing to part with for cheap

If your lucky.. It also might be your coolent flow valve just above the heater as well.

If you haven't replaced the firewall heater pipes since the stock tubing, you might want to consider that into your budget. They are about 120 bucks tops from mazda.

Also if you are using screw down clamps on the firewall heater tubing, make sure not to screw down to tightly, the tubing is soft brass/copper. Too much tightning of the clamps will bend the tube causing a poor seal at the firewall and high reving will spray coolant into your firewall and will eventually find it's way to soak in to your carpet.

Check those heater hose / firewall connections first as logicfoxx suggested. I have seen those bent / out of round copper pipes cause the problem on several cars.

out of round core tubes can be restraightened with a socket that fit the ID of the tubing, it could be the valve but thats a simple easy quick check but im guessing not
