Hm, I'm just going to flush the radiator sometime this week, or so.. ( I hope) ....

I searched around in the garage for the coolant I am currently using in the car... It's something like "Dex-Cool coolant" or something.. Yeah, it's that orange stuff. I remember reading on the board, never to use that stuff... heh, well I guess I'm in **** now huh?

One more thing for tonight...
Had my a/c on the other day.... because it was pouring in milton.. .I'm cruising a little over 60 maybe 65.... and the temp rises to 3/4ths again WTF?? ... Is this really the cause of my t-tat, or the coolant I'm using or what?? Mind you, even when I had my a/c on before, it never heated up as bad.... blah. Who knows.

I get my t-stat in a few days, it's with a friend.... so, there's no telling when he can get from Mobile, to here... anytime soon...

Could be anything. You have a cooling problem. Don't blame the coolant. It could be the tstat, airflow issue(all shrouds in place), fan clutch, coolant flow issue(clogged rad/passages...), coolant level, oil level, oil cooler, debris(road kill/leaves) on the oilcooler or radiator, failing radiator, leaks, ........

Learn to cycle the AC if it gets that hot.

One thing I have done is replace lots of radiators. After 10years(especially for people who live next to the beach), the radiator fin density(called rust) is reduced alot. The radiator is painted and noone notices the condition of the fins(between the cores). They should bend easily. If they crumble or break, then there isn't enough BTU heat rejection capacity in the radiator. The fins create the surface area for the wind cooling effect. Kinda works like your CPU/computer heatsink or like some home heating systems.
My '91(weekend driver) still has the stock radiator. It is beginning to show external wear even though it doesn't leak. I have a hopeless radiator(another car) and will remove the crumbling fins tomorrow for pictures and post them.

Yeah, I'd say so if you don't want to have to replace your water pump again. THe orange coolant is for long life, not ment for regular cars. It has acids of some type that will ruinate your cooling system. That is probably why your car is messed up.

p.s. redlining it all the time isn't all that great of an idea either. just my 2 cents
