Are these actual short shifters? Or did you just cut and rethreaded the lever?

It doesent really matter. Either way, the pivot point is moved to a different point in the axis.

If you're talking about modifying the stock shift lever...no, it's not.&nbsp You're just shortening the top lever length as referenced to the pivot point; the opposite/shorter lever that engages to the shift "linkage" to pivot point length is still the same.&nbsp All you did is cut the shift lever height and increase the force needed to shift the shifter.

A true short shifter moves the pivot point in reference to both ends of the shift lever.&nbsp Shift force is kept close to stock if designed correctly.

If these guys are indeed trying to sell rethread stock shift levers without the top isolated piece removed, you're getting ripped.&nbsp Anyone can heat the stock shift lever and instant short shift lever.&nbsp Depending on your choice or (aftermarket) shift *****, you may or may not need to rethread the rod.

ted,
If I wanted to heat my stock shifter and bend it to make a short shifter, which way, and how much would i do it? if it works alot of people would probably do it, might be worth a write up

It is very easy:

1-Remove the shifter
2-Notice that the shifter is made out of two sections (lets call them the top part and the lower part)
3-Use a torch to heat the section were the top part and the lower part joins.
4-Use two vice grips (one in the top part and one in the lower part) and pull them apart.
5-Make some thread in the lower part and VOILA!

Notice that this a very unconfortable mod (if you can call it a mod), I went back to the OEM setup in a matter of hours. The throw doesn't feel "short" at all, and IT IS HARDER TO SHIFT!!

I didn't have to heat thre shifter on my old NA. I just took some vice grips, locked on the top part and twisted the top off. It will be a little harder to shift but I think that was mostly due to the fact that I need some new tranny fluid and my clutch was almost all the way gone.

not too mention that the rubber between the two sections is ment to reduce vibration. without that the only person who is going to be happy with this "mod" is our girlfriends .

vibration... girlfriends... get it?
