Converting S4 to S5?

Yeah, I'm in the process of converting my VERY clean S4 (1988) Turbo II into an S5.

I have an S5 Fender and have just installed the taillights, and bumper.

I am about to buy a Racing Beat Exhaust as well. I just bought some PRISTINE leather seats and I'm going to have to sand the the driver side down and get a guy to get a die of one of the seats.

Along with those I bought leather door panels (first year they put the door speaker)

I also bought an entire back carpet as well. I'm going to sell those too.

I'm just reminding you guys, that Mazda made gray leather for one ONE year.

Well, has anyone ever converted an S4 into an S-5?

Why? The S5 isn't better than the S4 (and vice versa). Estetically if you prefer the S5 why not the interior and everything? Just go buy another FC.

I'd love a leather interior though, too bad only 10AE had that.

Personally, I'd only ever buy an S5, but that's because I'm a snob - I prefer to more 'updated' look.

To convert the appearence you'll need:
-bumpers/trim (duh)
-tails
-Fog lights (optional)
-door panels
-armrest
-seats
-dash (colour depending)
-carpet
-bins
-Center surround + shift surround
-gauges

...Just buy an S5...

fenders are the same, unless you are using S5 Turbo fenders with the factory running board aero kit, which then the fender just has a couple of extra holes in it...

You bought some 86 door panels??? 86 was the first year that they had door speakers. Hardly S5 then. 86 GXL gray leather door panels wouldn't really be S5 style, but they will fit the door speaker holes on your 88, I guess.

No, that is not correct. Gray leather was available for 1986, 1887 and 1988... so that would be three years.

No. The leather interiors were available options on both the GXL and Turbo models for the entire FC run.

Mark, he's got an 87 turbo. We just picked up an 88 interior, so it has the square centered door speakers like those on the convertible, but with the rouched leather instead of the convertible pinhole leather on the panels. The seats are 88 gray leather, in very good condition. Couple of places will be sanded down and redyed, the dye coming from Leatherique who have an excellent product line. I'll get it from them as I'll be in Aiken, SC next week.

The outside will be S5 turbo with the moldings, taillights and bumper caps. Fog lights, side skirts from the TII and the front bumper spoiler as well.

We'll probably build an exhaust system as I got the Magnaflow pots for free. I'll just have to have a Y pipe built as the downpipe and cat are new before we bought the car.

It already has the S5 Momo steering wheel. The regular steering wheels for the GXL, convertibles, etc, were the same for the line. 10th AE was the only one with black leather. This is a gray leather from an 88 TII.

Sorry for the confusion.
