Convertibles equipped with LSD diff?

I'm trying to figure out if my s4 convertible has LSD diff. The car is equipped with the larger brakes, ate there any ways I could visually verify which diff I have?

Jack up the rear of the car and spin the wheels.
If they both spin the same direction, you've got a LSD.
If they spin opposite, it's open.
If one side doesn't spin at all, you have trouble.
With a capital T and that rhymes with P and that stands for POOL!

sorry...

it should be open. with it in the air, put the car in gear and spin a wheel, if its just free then its open. or you can just lift one wheel and spin it, if it takes more than 20 Ft-lbs its LSD

That is exactly the case. Only 2nd gens that came stock with LSD's were S4 GXL and Turbo's, and S5 GTUs and Turbo.

Actually, the S4(88) GTU came with the LSD/clutch-type.

The S4/88 GTU is NOT the same as the S5/89 GTU. The 89 GTU is like the earlier(86-88) Base model. This seems to be a very common mis-understanding in the community and eslewhere.

Yup, he's correct. At least for the 88's. No GTU in the earlier S4 model years.

I hope you have a custom driveshaft (NA yoke, TII diff flange) to go along with it.
