Two TPS from S5 TII, different wire colors and code?

I got a TPS from someone on this forum, supposedly from an S5 TII.

This had the full-range labeled AAB, the narrow-range AOA. Two wires, one to each TPS, was yellow.

Now, on my old TPS, thought to be faulty, had the full-range labeled AAD, and the narrow-range AOK. This one is certainly from my own S5 TII.

I am wondering if the pins are set differently on these two, as the top and bottom pin on the narrow-range were opposite in wire color compared to my old TPS. The full-range was the same.

Has anyone seen different kinds of TPS for the same type of engine, that also are set up differently?

yes,, there is one with a different bend on the bracket and the positions are swapped,, so are the relative cams on the linkages to suit
,, always suspected for various reasons it may have been a vert one ( different assembly line/factory and ecu )
IIRC it was blue red yellow on the wide range

if in doubt, use a jewelers screwdriver to repin the plug socket to suit same as the old tps , take a pic before and after in case it has to go back how it was

for the normal, common aussie s5 with dual TPS
-- where the full range unit is inside,, and the narrow one is outside

--narrow range--
orange = 5V
black/red = earth
green/red = signal
--full range--( IIRC )
blue = earth
red = 5v
yellow= signal

I found a dead spot in the new TPS, however, my old TPS was never bad, so I took the plug from the new TPS and put it on my old and working, and I will just connect it as said in the wiring diagram vs. the plug, and see what happens.

If you do have the colors on both ends, that would help alot by the way.

When you ohm it, you ohm it over blue and red, and black/red and green/red, wasn't it? I will take some pictures of my setup, and you can see for yourself. My bracket was exactly the same, and afaik, in the US, the vert never came with turbo.

Here you can see the full range is blue-red-yellow, the narrow is black/red-orange-green/red.

Here is my plug, as it was on the new TPS, I connected the old TPS exactly the same color-wise.

Here is the new TPS. Note that it is upside down. You can see the full range being yellow-red-blue, opposite of the other.

Green/red-orange-black/red is the narrow range, opposite here as well.

Tried reconnecting it now, and went over the grounds as well, just for the heck. A small bit of jerking on low RPM, but I think the lack of BAC can account for that.

Just for info:
The S5 TPS and S5 TII TPS are different.(according to Mazdatrix).
Maybe that is what you have?One of each?..Just guessing.

they are identical units aside the wire colour changes..same as the s4 unit ..
this is easy to prove to yourself with a multimeter,,i have swapped them around and replugged them many times
to the OP,, you must do the TPS calibrations when warmed up and the set couple enabled
be aware often issues with the 5V bus or earth will remain despite repeated TPS swaps
these have been doucmented ad nauseum,, every one knows of the grounds
,, but the real fix is at the crimps where earths and 12v and 5 V spider away just a short distance out from the ecu plug

if you have persistant issues with a wandering TPS cal.. and all your linkages and wax cam are not binding then go there and redo these crimps

the n/a and TII are different in more than just one way, since they bolt to the throttle body on different sides..

the TPS with reversed positions IS off a turbo throttle body.. NA was never mentioned .. in aus there is many grey import verts with turbo and with auto ..i cant vouch WHAT that motor came from originally,, i can vouch that there is an oddball version floating around
my guess is its vert turbo... why they did it, cant fathom
