Convert to methonol
I was thinking today I want to convert my 86 n/a to methonol. What would I have to do? Is there anything special about FC conversion?
I was thinking, you get more power and it is better for the environment. Although I would have to buy special fuel, The benifits out weigh the price. What does methonol go for a gallon anyway in the Midwest? Its right around the price for 91 octane I think right?

besides it being highly corrosive, i'm trying to find other reasons to, or not to, want to run methanol.
Methanol is easier to store but is poisonous and also creates carbon dioxide as a by-product. It can be made from the fermentation of plants like sugar beet, and amazingly enough car engines don't need much modification to run on methanol. Indeed some buses in London now run on it. -- http://www.sciencenet.org.uk/databas...9/e00046d.html
Methanol ("wood alcohol"), like ethanol, is a high-performance liquid fuel that emits low levels of toxic and ozone-forming compounds. It can be produced at prices comparable to gasoline from natural gas and can also be produced from coal and wood. All major auto maufacturers have produced cars that run on "M85," a blend of 85 percent methanol and 15 percent gasoline. Cars that burn pure methanol (M100) offer much greater air quality and efficiency advantages. Many auto manufacturers have developed advanced M100 prototypes. Methanol has long been the fuel of choice for race cars because of its superior performance and fire safety characteristics. -- http://greennature.com/article243.html
and please, though i doubt you ever would, don't use animal fat to run your car. that's disgusting. also, it causes "crystalline precipitation and subsequent cloudiness in cold weather."
i haven't found too much on methanol yet, but if i find something worth knowing, i'll repost.

When it comes to alternitive fueled RX-7's, locally call up Xtreme Imports and ask for Charlie. He's the local in town w/ a Blown, Nitro-Methane FC. He'll probably be at the March meet as well.
