I'm pretty sure you not gonna want to plug it, its the air pump hose. What your gonna want to do is get a breather filter so it can still get air and not get any rocks and such in there. I'm in the process of finding the right size one so let me know if you find one.

i bought a bunch of brass fittings from NAPA and put a hole in my main intake tube for the fittings to bolt/clamp on to so i could attach my pump hose. I connected it under the main intake tube so you can't see it. Just get a 3/4" male nipple dohickey with a threaded male end on the other side, put the thread side in the hole (make it smal so it seals well) and put aa nut on the back. Done

swoosh and haro: thanks.

bbp: dude, I'm sorry I am not as bright as you, that's why I was asking the ******* question.

yes, I had noticed that it sucks quite a bit of air through, which is WHY I did NOT plug it but instead asked

Commonly refered to as a "breather filter" any performance store (be it V8 or import) should carry them.

Judging by your grammar you're no rocket scientist, buddy. Don't hate the guy for asking a question. Jeez...

lol FCdemon
yeah, the other thing is, this IS my beater car, I picked it up for $50. (no, I don't think that RX7s are ****, I fully intend on picking up another one when I graduate (one in good condition)

The way I see it, I get to have fun working on this car (new to the rotary "thing") without worrying about messing it up

Intalling a cone filter is pretty easy. Remove stock air box, but adapter in (for S4), attach cone filter. Put breather filter. Hold evrything tight and that's it.

If I can do it you can too!

I went to Canadian Tire (it's like pep boys or sumpthin with hardware and guns and stuff) and got a little round air filter with a paper filament from a lawn mower for like $3. Has a little flanged type intake end on it that slid into the air pump hose real nice. It looks kinda silly, but oh well... Should last you 'til graduation!

You can just take out your air pump if you don't have to worry about emissions.

only on a S5. S4 opens with exhaust back pressure.

the ones at pepboys, and kragen work fine....it may look small but it fits PERFECTLY....i bought the same one just for the hell of it, to see if i could make anything work...and what i ended up doing was taking out that hose completely from the airpump and putting the filter directly into that bronze pipe that connects the hose to the airpump....it fits in there real nice not too loose and not too tight....just do that....ill try and get some pics up asap...but trust me it works...
