compression test
if it starts, runs and makes power, the motor is fine.
A rotary is not like a piston engine where the valve guides start to leak or the rings start to wear out where you need to check the compression regularly.
Drive the car until it doesnt run anymore (which in some cases can be nearly 200k miles!!)

A cold engine will yield higher results (probably 5-10 psi). 80-90 psi isn't that bad for an engine. It could blow 1 mile from now or 100,000 miles from now. Currently, I wouldn't be particually worried about it.
