Compression okay at 140,000 ?

Would the compression of my motor be okay at 140,000 miles? Would the fact that my car has been sitting since October 2001 cause my motor to lose compression? The car has not started since then. I have replaced fuel pump, checked fuses, relays but with no luck in starting the vehicle. There is spark to the plugs so ignition shouldn't be a problem right? What else can i try to give life back to the motor? People have told me to use the "ATF" method. Can that solve the problem?

You can do a search @ ATF, many threads. If the car was running when "parked", the seals probably have shrunk, low compression, and ATF needed. If you have gas and spark, then low compression is a good possibility. You could pull plugs and do an at home compression test to see if internals ok. Just to verify no chambers at 0 or extremely low compression.

compression check

ATF

or pull all the plugs remove the EGI fuse and crank that baby over for a while to get rid of the fuel in the motor
