Compression numbers....

I know y battery has to be fully charged, but I just tried it with jumper cables from another car. Didn't crank as fast as usual, but it was ok. Oh yea, the car is cold and cant warm it because I have an electrical problem, and was just testing compression for fun. I used a piston gauge. I removed lower plugs and egi fuse. Had the throttle wide open. Battery was weak, I can tell, but I got 60 in the front and 60 in the rear consistently. Is this ok for cold numbers?

when I ran the fuel pump off the battery to test the engine, it started up pretty normal, but haven't tried it since and that was like 1-1 1/2 months ago.

That's low. At least the front the rear are consistant. Has the engine been sitting up for some time? How many miles on it?

Ok I just saw your sig. So I take it your talking about your low mileage Cosmo engine right? Did you open the engine before installation into your car? If you didn't, these engines come carbon infested. Since your numbers are equal, I can quarentee that you have some carbon sticking issues with the internal seals. This isn't a bad thing since this can be cleaned out. When I got my 20b it had no compression till I cleaned out all the carbon.

I have a JDM 13bt S5 TII engine. And it has been sitting quite a bit. I never opened the engine.

Well that explains your compression problem. When you get your electrical problems fixed, start searching the forum for "decarbonizing the rotary". You will find different inexpensive methods to this process. Personally I use the water steam cleaning method once every 3 months. That one is free. But now all I do is use engine flush when I change my oil. The engine flush is designed to break down heavy carbon deposits. It will also work it's way through the OMP lines and into the combustion chamber where it will also dissolve carbon inside the engine. I got over 103k on my FD with original engine with excellent compression, so I know what I'm talking about.
