compression on fresh rebuilt engine

ok, i just rebuilt the engine in my 91 vert and did a compression check. i got 100 psi in both front and rear rotor housings...this is plenty good enough to start on the first try right? Do I have to do any preliminary start up procedures or just fire it up like normal? Thanks.

if this engine was just installed, Check double check, make sure all hoses and not cracked and if they are replace them. Then hook everything up and start like normal, set the iddle so she iddles nicely. That is good compression for a fresh rebuild! you should have no problem getting a rock solid idle out of it. make sure to pay attention to all of your guages, Ie. oil pressure, coolant temp. This usually helps to have two people one inside monitering, the other under the engine bay setting the iddle and looking out and listenign for any thing wrong.
Good Luck.

100 psi is sweet on a new one.

Kevin of Rotary Resurrection test bedded mine before he shipped it out. He said it ran for about an hour and built up to 90.

Well first start up...
Crank over with the ignition fuse out so you can fully lube the engine and build fuel pressure.

Then pray.
Then try it.

I heard that you shoudl just set the idle high until the compression starts to settle at it's final value. Then you can tune it down.

don't forget to pull your EGI fuses and crank her over a couple of times to get the oil flowing, before you start her...

oops yeah thanks guys I forgot to mention that.
It is best to get a table spoon of two stroke oil (or what you wish) and inject half of it into each of the lower spark plug holes, then pull your egi fuse and crank her a few times, This will help with initial compression and will prime your fuel system. then replace fuse, check for any leaks or anything looking wron. then continue as per normal.

as for setting the idle high, I found this didn't help any to build compression any faster. I would suggest simply setting the iddle where the engine is comfortable and keep readjusting until it is where desire, my jspec iddle after rebuild at 950, after about 500kms I had it down to the respectible 830 RPM. The engine had 95 psi cold after rebuild.
But do as your engine builder suggests. That way it is done the way "he/she" likes it and "incase" some thing goes wrong (knoks on wood) he will be more easy that the install and break in is done "right".

thanks guys...there is only 1 egi fuse to pull right? the fuse box on the left side of the engine that is...i've already added 2 table spoons of oil to the lower spark plug holes

yes only one egi fuse to pull. then crank a little, then replace, check for leaks or things not right, then start her up.

Just so you know, if you did that before you did the compression check it would've drastically increased it from what it 'really' is.

True however it will project realistically enough what he can expect when mostly broken in. If that is what he is getting without the oil in the chambers he could have about 110-115. pretty sweet if you ask me!
