Compression?

Compression?

i recently bought an 87 rx7 i havent recieved it yet however the dealer said it wont start untill it gets its compression back do any of you know what that means does the engines need some sort of compression to start or is he full of crap and is so how much to get that done.

Ummm, first off how much does he want for it. If it's a compression problem then the engine is not really worth buying. Compression chambers are really expensive to repair........you'll need a new motor most likely. However, 13b's are not that hard to come across, so if you can get the rx at a good enough price it might be worth it to buy it and get a motor seperate.

Thanks it does i hope its not the chambers that would suck i bought it for $600 but that brings up a good point i could probably find a turbo charged engine for about the same as rebuilding one and it is in pretty good shape.
