Compresion

Got an '88 turbo II from a friend, the car and engine were apart cause he was workin on it, he sold it to me for 500 bucks and says the compression is bad, What would be the most common reasons for a bad compression? kinda new to rotary engines, thanks in advance.

Blown motor for one reason or another. Some or all of the seals are dead. Rebuild kits start at $800 depending on what needs to be replaced and if you need housings, rotors, etc, parts can go up to $2k or more depending on what you buy. Motor needs to be disassembled to figure out what needs to be replaced.

There's the possibility compression is just low because it sat and just needs some oil and to start to work.

Also, what do you mean by "low compression" and how was it tested? There's a difference between getting an even 85 psi on all faces of both rotors and having zero compression from one or more faces.

Blown apex seals, or worn out housings. If you have the engine out, look in the exhaust ports for any damage

im waiting for it to get a little hotter so i could actually start workin on the car, i have no garage or anything, it would really suck if it was anything like the actual rotor or housing that was messed up, wat if one of the apex seals were damaged? would i have to rebuild?

Yes you have to rebuild if the motor is blown.

assuming your car is 10AE, that is a definitely steal. I give you $501 for it, so you don't need to rebuild it. :-0

It's always cheaper to do it yourself. initially. You don't have to pay for shipping or labor. BUT, you don't get a warranty or the knowing that a qualified professional is working on it. If you got the money, do it right!
