Complications with engine swap: HELP!

I just put an engine from a base into a GXL. Everything is hooked up exept one Black/Red? wire and one Yellow/Red? wire (I have no clue where they go) and facing the car, the bottom vac port on the UIM is not hooked up, as I have no clue where it goes, I just capped it. I suspect one of those is the reason that the coolent gauge does not work.

ANYWAY, the car started right up! It was great, after all that work to have it work correctly...

... exept it doesnt work correctly. It starts, runs up to ~2500 RPM, then dies. I can keep the car alive by blipping the throttle, but it absalutely will not idle. I have tried adjusting the idle screw and the A/F screw, but no change.

The vac gauge I plugged in says 20inhg.

I tested the TPS, the TPS works fine. I swapped out the AFM with another known good AFM and it also works fine. The check engine light is not illuminated.

I tried actually driving the car and it surges like crazy.

I'm hoping it is a stupid mistake I made somewhere! Help! :O

The booster line!! I havent checked that yet, maybe it fell off. I'll go check it this afternoon.

I pray, for all the stupid mistakes I can make, I hope that letting the booster line fall off was it!!!

Thanks HAILERS

Not sure about the black/red wire. Where is it located? The red/yellow wire sounds like it goes to the oil pressure sender. Did you check to see if your water thermo sensor is plugged in on the back of the waterpump? Also check the water temp sender near the oil pressure sender. Big vac leak somewhere.

I would guess that the vac leak is the other end of the one you capped on the bottom of the UIM. Get a manual and figure out where it's supposed to go to and I'll bet you'll find the leak.

Are you taking about one of the 3 nipples on the front of the UIM? They go into the vac rack.

I replaced the middle intake to lower intake manifold gasket and it got a LITTLE better.

Held it at 2KRPM for a little bit using the throttle, and the exhaust started to glow cherry red. I'll bet the cats are clogged (Last engine burned GALLONS of oil) so I'm gonna put a midpipe on it for the mean time.... I doubt that is the problem though.

All the hoses in the vac rac are plugged in already. :O

One missing vac line wont cause this kind of a problem :O

Yeh, what would the two small hoses on the front of the UIM go to?

I know one goes practically streight down, right into the vac rack.

Thanks though.
