coldstart, dies after accelerated warmup, restarts fine HELP!!

Ok guys,

my problem: on a coldstart, after the accelerated warmup, the the idle doesn't hold and the car dies (unless i give it a little gas and then the idle would hold). After it dies and i restart the car, it idles fine, no bouncing or anything harsh.

I tried searching and found that a good handful of people have had this problem. But there are so many answers. I have seen problems with the afm, dashpot, fuel injectors etc etc. my question is what is my best bet in fixing this problem, where do i start?

any help is greatly appreciated!!!

mine does the same thing sometimes, it will jump to the warmup mode, then slowly come back down and just sputter and die, then starts back up fine and idles at 1500 or so until warm

so, i'd like to know this as well

living with the problem

problem still exists, i just give it a little gas once the car seems to want to shut off after accelerated warmup. Sometimes the idle doesn't hold even on a hotstart and I have to also give it a little gas then it holds. Anyone have an answer to my problem? I was wondering if the sub zero start assist blockoff plate (http://www.2751engineering.com/2751parts.html) will help. any help will be much appreciated!!!!!

have you tested your TPS? How's your timing? Don't crap until you've tested everything. BTW 2751eng. is cool. I highly recommend their block off plates.

timing is good. I've never checked the tps because my idle is around 750-800 so i never thought it was a problem but i'll probably try the led method.

I had the same problem too..

Try turning the key to "ON" position and wait for 20 seconds to let the fuel pressure to build up and start it up. It works for me.

check the TPS for sure, that may be the cause for your stalling, and the BAC valve. As for the cold starts and dying check the connector for your water themosensor, I just replaced mine and my cold start issue has dissappeared, and no dying after AWS! woo hoo!

yea. none of those problems have come back.

This is my story in detail:

I bought a new set of sparkplugs when i bought the car but never installed them because a mechanic friend told me they looked new. Time went by and never touched the plugs again. Car drove fine until about 3 months ago on my way back from pheonix my car floods (never flooded before). i had to use my killswitch for the first time to fix the issue. I didn't think much of it its nothing unusual for 7's to flood, i just thought the car was getting old. Thats when the coldstart issue started, for about 2 months it did that and i just dealt with it. Then one day car just didn't start altogether and I had to tow it back home. I thought it was on its last breath and i decided to change the plugs as the last resort kind of thing. She fired right up. Now i no longer have the coldstart issue described in this thread.

thanks for the concern!
