cold weather battery?

Anybody have preferences or experiences for a battery for cold climates? Minus 7 in Minnesota and my son's Crystal White turbo won't start. He is looking into a cold weather battery with a battery blanket. It is not flooded.
Thanks

Optima Red top has 800-920 CCA, depending on model, and are only $100 if you shop around. If that fails, start looking at the condition of the starter and/or cables leadign up tp it (and ground).

Yeah, I swear by Optima. They are a bit expensive, but worth every penny. I run the Yellow top (deep cycle) because I have a bad habit of running batteries down.

I have an AutoCraft, it starts up perfectly everytime. Today was the first time my car has seen below freezing temperatures though...

Short of a hook-up, Costco is your best option. I get them at $129, so its not really that much of a savings.

Yes, I always recommend the Red Top. However, there is no need to use a Yellow Top unless you have a specific reason to do so. Deep cycle charging curves are completely different from starting-battery charging curves. While it is doubtfull that anyone will ever notice the different, a Yellow Top will not charge correctly with the default charging algorithm an alternator uses (charge to 14V then cut off). This means that the battery will never be fully charged, and life will suffer. Something to think about.

Wow, good to know since I'd decided on a Red-Top from Advance/Discount Auto $109
