Cold air intake question

I`ve read several of the build your own CAI threads. But I have a few questions and different ways to do it.
My car already has a hole to make a CAI, but I was wondering if I were to accidently drive through a big puddle or something that water would get into it. Is that a big problem? or is that just impossible unless I were to do something stupid and end up in a big *** puddle.

also I was thinking about having a pipe go up to the filter and have a heat sheild around the intake to keep hot air out. but I was wondering that it would be less efficient since you`re not getting direct cold air from below.

And I was wondering if the Pivot eyes for the headlights really bring cold air into the intake?

thanks

water does not travel up hill, does not go through the AFM, and wouldnt damage the engine much anyways even if a little water DID get into the engine.

Not only that but you can buy a setup that has some kind of water flow preventer in it if your worried about that.

AEM makes a valve that goes in your pipes. You would have to suck a good amount of water to mess something up. Do a search and you'll find many threads about this topic.

Yea ok thanks. I didn`t think it would do much damage unless I decide to go offroading after a good rain.
