Cold air intake question
I`ve read several of the build your own CAI threads. But I have a few questions and different ways to do it.
My car already has a hole to make a CAI, but I was wondering if I were to accidently drive through a big puddle or something that water would get into it. Is that a big problem? or is that just impossible unless I were to do something stupid and end up in a big ass puddle. also I was thinking about having a pipe go up to the filter and have a heat sheild around the intake to keep hot air out. but I was wondering that it would be less efficient since you`re not getting direct cold air from below. And I was wondering if the Pivot eyes for the headlights really bring cold air into the intake? thanks |
water does not travel up hill, does not go through the AFM, and wouldnt damage the engine much anyways even if a little water DID get into the engine.

Not only that but you can buy a setup that has some kind of water flow preventer in it if your worried about that.

AEM makes a valve that goes in your pipes. You would have to suck a good amount of water to mess something up. Do a search and you'll find many threads about this topic.

Yea ok thanks. I didn`t think it would do much damage unless I decide to go offroading after a good rain.
