Looks very well done. FWIW, thats not a true cold air intake, though. A cai has the filter seperated from the hot air of the engine bay, usually with a box of some sort and ducting to the brake duct. Very nice looking car, though.

Come on, you live in Ontario. Seriously though, how hot does it get there?

117 heat index? Thats cheating. lol Ok, I'll grant that thats pretty hot. Thats pretty standard around here, though. It'll get up to 130+ heat index with a mild rain to boost the humidity.

nice hot air intake, sorry to be a dick but metal retains heat the oem one probably makes more power unless the whole intake tube was shielded from heat, plastics are way better for intake tubes especially if its in the engine bay

it's true. I've done the same set up on three cars, honda toyota and a seven. The aspiration IS more free flowing, but your still pulling in Hot, thin air. The benefit is very minimal. Blocking it off will also help a VERY slight bit, but the best is to shield it, as mentioned above, or run PVC, and to route the filters somehow down by the fender to actually pull in cold air, instead of hot engine-bay air

blah, just wrap it with heat tape....it'll be fine with a box enclosure...

as much as any one here doesnt want to belive all this cold air intake is a bunch of crap I have personally dynoed cars with exhaust or intake mods and most aftermarket stuff like injen or aem is all bull majority of every car tested with a aftermarket in take lost power compared to the oem air box like a acura rsx type s lost as much as 15 horse power with a CAI I couldnt belive it either at first, but metal retains heat it doesnt matter how much wheel well cold air you take in and all the bends to get to the wheel well slow down air flow which air doesnt like, how many professional tuned cars run CAI just about none of them all theses FD, Supras, Skylines, none of them have them they use a custom air box or high flow filter, does the AEM 350 use a aem intake no all these sponsered cars wont even use them cause they know they are crap, as far as daily driven semi modded cars go nothing beats a OEM air box with a highflow filter, every one thinks cause a intake makes your throttle louder it has to be making power but is not true, and yes I know metal tubes are used with most intercoolers but the intercooler is in the path of fresh air so it does get cooled

That definitely applies to some cars, but not FC's. The stock airbox has been proven in flow testing to be quite restritive, and "high-flow" panel filters in any stock airbox are a complete waste of money. It's the box itself that causes most of the restriction, not the filter.

ok as far as FC's go I am not to sure how restrictive they are I belive you but I know for most cars as I have personally seen on the dyno, what I meant to really say was the stock air intake tube is better than the metal ones I personally use the stock intake tube with a HKS Mega flow on my turbo but most of the boxes did better than the tubes and cone filters

I won't enter into the whole effectiveness of the intake without a shield debate (done that too many times lol ) But I just wanted to point out an issue with your AFM. There is a lot of evidence to suggest that putting a flapper style AFM (like ours) on its side is a bad idea. Upside down or rightside up is alright, but on its side is thought to screw up the unit's effectiveness - thus sending misreadings to the computer.

Now, I've heard many people say it makes no difference, but do a search on the topic and you can make up your mind yourself.

And everyone knows that as soon as you hit the Canadian Border the temperature drops 40 degrees, and it snows 10 months out of the year.

I rotated the lid of my box so that the inlet hole is facing the headlight area. It takes a little bit of tweaking to get the lkid to sit right and squeeze down inside the frame but I think it helped. I'm trying to think up a way to get cold air directly into the headlight/airbox area to improve fresh air... Suggestions? I'll post a picture up later so you know what the hell I'm talking about..

It seals on 2 of the sides still and I had to get some rubber sealent that molds like clay to go around the rest. I don't think it would really matter if it sealed completely or not anyway. I think 3 or 4 of the screws line up pretty good with the holes on the lid but I'm thinking about buying some clamps and ditching the screws all together. I'm also thinking about ditching the whole box and buying some PVC rubber piping and routing it straight into the hollow front bumper area around the radiator but not visible from outside the car. Cut a whole through the empty area next to the headlight assembly and route a cone filter in that area.
