Rebuild StartUp Troubles...NEED HELP PLZ!

ok i hav a 87 rx7 gxl n/a. i just got done doing a stock rebuild on the motor and have put it back int he car. i have double and triple checked my connections(wires, fuel lines, coolant lines, oil lines, and vacuum lines) and have failes to find out my problem. here are the symptoms the engine cranks over and sounds like its starting to ignite the mixture but cant seem to really start. i hav spark and i hav fuel. i can push start it and itll run but i cant key start it. one thought i had was if there is a bypass on the starter thats not hooked up something that would draw energy away from the ignition system when its being cranked over by the starter. does anyone know if the starter has a bypass on it? thats only my guess im not really sure. the car is completely stock with everything hooked up.(emissions and such) so if anyone has some suggestions or idea thatd be most appreciated. thanks guys

also once i get it started it wont idle and adjusting the idle itelf doesnt help. whne i adjust it, the rpms change while i hav someone holding it at a set rpm but i still cant get it to idle. ive chacked the other postings by ppl who hav had a rebuild startup problem and some of them are similiar but not quite the same. when i hold the accelerator at the rpm the idle is suppose to be at the timing is off a lil. but im still not sure why i cant at least start it. what components are powered when the engines is being started and what compnents are powered after its started and running, does anyone know?

Let us know how it turns out. I have to do the same thing very soon with my engine. I don't want to run into any surprises.
