coilover kit without springs?

does anyone know where i can find a coilover kit with out springs, like the ground control set up minus the actual spring, i am lookin to put hypercoil springs on a set of koni yellows, does anyone know if i would need this coilover kit or not or could i get away with other options, or is it not do able period?

not sure on spring rates yet need to call koni and see what they recommend for their struts..

also what length springs would i need?

Koni sells threaded sleeves and such, but what's wrong with the Eibach springs that come with the GC kit anyway? I always thought that they were good springs, if not better than Hypercoil. Of the two, at least of the examples I've seen, the Eibachs are lighter with more stroke, which would be better.

i was reading that eibach springs have stock feel for daily driving and when you start getting into the turns they act more as a performence spring, and read that people didnt like this becuase it had a weird feel on track, idk if a i am saying this right or not though i believe they were talking about a pro rate spring or something along those lines, what would be a better spring option then, how about swift springs?

Those people were talking about the stock-style spring kits that they make (pro-kit, sport-line). These are made to use the stock spring hardware.

The Eibach springs that come with the Ground-Control kit are the ERS series. They are "universal" linear rate springs, just like the Hypercoils.

Just call Ground Control and they will get you EXACTLY what you need if you tell them what car you have, what damper you're running, and what you want to do with it. Trust them.

Yes, that's an important distinction to be made. Coilover sleeves require universal race springs, which don't suffer from those listed drawbacks. I'd prefer Eibach over Hypercoil for the reasons I listed before.

I have the Mazda Motorsports Stage II suspension kit with Konis that comes standard with 2.5"ID Eibach ERS 400lb 7" front springs and 275lb 10" rear springs. You can get springs from 175lb to 500lb at 25lb increments in place of the standard springs. Also, some people like to add 150lb tender springs on the rears.

I highly recommend that you join Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development (free) so you have the option to buy parts from them at reduced rates. Local SCCA autocross events count for 'race results', and they will give you the sponsorship regardless of how much you suck at racing.

I also recommend replacing the suspension bushings when installing new suspension. Worn bushings will cause the new parts to wear at a rapid rate, and may even cause them to bend or break. Besides, there isn't much point in adding a stiff suspension when you have sloppy bushings.
