clutch system problem

I have an 87 n/a and whenever I push down the clutch and come back up to change gears, the clutch pedal stops and doesn't come up for about 1-2 sec. It seems to only do this when I drive it harder than normal driving conditions. Also, the pedal feels a little spongy and I've bleed the line for air, but it didn't make a difference. Can someone please help me out.
Thanks

sounds like you have a clutch hydraulics problem. may have fluid leakin around in your clutch master cylinder. if you push the pedal down and just hold it there, does it get stickier the longer its pushed in? if so then your masters shot. the fluid isnt being held in the system and is leakin back into the resevoir.

I don't know if it gets stickier the longer it's pushed in, but if I pump it, it feels like there is more air in the system. Wouldn't I see a leak on the master cylinder?
it would be leaking internally. when you push the pedal it forces fluid into the line to the slave cylinder. if the master is bad, the fluid can leak back out of the system which keeps the pedal from snapping back up and gives it the sticky feeling.
if its not the master it could be the slave cylinder sticking. i had a similar problem a few weeks ago. i started with the cheapest stuff and moved to the more expensive stuff. bled the system..didnt fix, changed the slave cylinder and line...didnt fix, changed the master and that was the problem.
