removed actuators and gas milage

hi, i recently toke a trip to LA with removed sleeves and actuators. My gas milage the whole was was 20 mpg highyway, 10 mpg city/ hilly areas (cumulation of all driving while visiting family, and return trip over grape vine, getting gas at the top) Ive done the trip twice before, with sleaves and my milage was a solid 28 mpg highway and ~20mpg city (mixed driving, a little fun driving) (except the time i made it in 5 hours, was a lil lower then) Also i babied the car the whole way this time because i had noticed the drop in gas milage, so the numbers are for driving the car softly. Basically what im trying to point out is running without six ports is about a 8-10 mpg hit. Im puttign mine back in cus i cant afford the gas, the top end is fun but no worth it to me.

I think you have other problems. I run without the ports and I get about 22 mpg city and around 27 highway. I have header and some other mods.

Maybe you have leaky injectors, or maybe a hole in a line or something...

My TII gets better gas milage than you. There is *no* way you dropped that much from doing that.

I know that in the 86 models you can almost count on your pulsation damper to go bad. Mine did and I just replaced it with a brand new one from Mazda for $125. I also noticed the smell of fuel inside my car too. I would check out your pulsation damper, it's under the intake manifold toward the front of the motor. -Steve
