clutch slave cylinder toast...is mazdatrix SS line to blame?

i took out the clutch slave cylinder today, and it was completely wet and the boot was basically off. i have the mazdatrix SS line. I blew through it, and it seems to not have any restriction..but ive heard many a time that the SS clutch line can eat through slave cylinders (clutch release cylinder).

What happens is: The clutch line is now more efficient (Doesn't swell) so you have a higher effort pressure plate that takes more hydraulic pressure to actuate. So now the hydraulic system is operating at a higher than designed pressure; and something had to gice: The new SS line won't so the pressure escapes at the next weakest link.

The problem is the piece-meal effort of Modifications instead of the systems modification approach.

so besides purchasing a new slave cylinder, what would you suggest doing since it cant handle the upgraded pressure for long amounts of time?

I would First: Replace the Master and Slave Cylinder with NEW OEM. Use Synthetic fluid and blled well. This should suffice in most applications.

If you are still having problems I would switch to a Hydraulic Throw out bearing. More Expensive and a custom fabrication but well worth it!

Yeah I agree with Banzai,

When you do the SS line, or you replace either a master or slave you really need to either rebuild or replace both, the master and slave.

I put the SS line on both my cars and never had a problem with either one.

Return the s.s line!!!

Not to say their are defects on all of them but as you may know that particular line I bought from Mazdatrix cost me 3 Slaves, well over a days work, and hours of aftermat headaches.

We have sold hundreds of the SS lines (doubt it's near a thousand yet). We have only had ONE defective line (the one that keeps getting brought up). We buy them from the manufacturer.

Clutch hydraulics WEAR OUT - !!
When we do a clutch hydraulic job here, it is MANDATORY to replace BOTH the slave and the master (and the flex line if needed). If the customer does not want to do BOTH cylinders, we give them no warranty, and a short speech that the odds are near 100% that the other cylinder will go out fairly soon. It is what we learned MANY years ago -- attempting to save the customer the cost of one cylinder, then having to do the job again fairly soon under warranty.

Also, we do NOT rebuild the cylinders here - we use NEW ones only. By the time the seals have worn out, the bores are usually not in perfect shape - which will greatly decrease the life of new seals. If the bores are honed, the seal life also seems to be considerably shorter than new cylinders.

Ahh see Mazdatrix also agrees with us. Replace everything! not just the leaky part.

And the SS clutch line is the same one that corksport sells and they haven't had any problems either, so I tend to think that Silverrotor just got a bad one.

Glad you could chime In Mazdatrix. A note on the s.s Clutch Line. I replaced every component consisting of the Clutch Sytem except the Slave Cylinder, as I mentioned In my previous thread when I uppgraded to a ACT X-Treme Clutch and Racing Beat Aluminum Flywheel. After popping my 3rd Slave Cylinder, I had sent out the job to Mazdees, which I'm sure you heard of. It was from there, Dave had told me the s.s line was no good.

Furthermore, I had said that It was probably a bad line that I received In my original thread, respectively.

thanks banzai, icemark, and mazdatrix for explaining this. Hopefully someone else who has the same problem as me can look on this thread and get the final say so on this problem.

thanks.
