Which Clutch Should I Buy?

I have a 91 FC non turbo. I replaced the clutch 3 years ago but it turns out it was a shifty mechanic. He overcharged me and theres a possibility he didn't replace the entire assembly.

My question is:

Looking online I see many Clutch Kits ranging from $150-$500(us) and I'm not sure which would work best for my car. Does anyone have any input on which 1 I should buy?

Thanks.

If you car is mostly stock or just slightly modified, you should be fine just going with a stock replacement clutch and pressure plate. If you want a bit more bite, get a stock clutch and heavy duty pressure plate. The latter is what I have and it bites real good, but it sucks a bit when I am in traffic.

Also, go ahead and replace the pilot bearing and throwout bearing while you have the trans off.

a puck type on an NA is total waste. Doesn't matter what you've done to it.

I just put in the ebay stage 2 jobbie (threw the box away, can't remember the name) in my 87Gxl. Said it was good for 305hp or something.

Love it. It's smooth, but if you dump it you'll get a bang and chirp in the back end.

Get your flywheel ground.

Have fun.

i have first hand experience with Exedy, ACT, Clutchmasters, and Spec....the only brand i have purchased 4 times for my personal cars is Exedy. Exedy is a great clutch company, just picked up an Exedy organic for my TII...its like a better version of the stock clutch. it holds better, and has a better pedal feel. plus its fairly cheap in price for a quality part.

take a realistic look at your plans for the car, and choose a clutch to meet the requirements of your realistic goal's. if your planning to have 500whp someday, then get something to hold you over for now until you need a clutch to handle 500whp.

And be sure to have a transmission that can handle the torque as well. A good strong clutch is no good if it is breaking everything behind it.
