Clutch question

Did anyone put in a Genuine Mazda Clutch Kit?
Or the ACT or RPS clutch kits for NAs?

The Mazda kit is $100 less than the aftermarket ones. Which is a good bet for my near stock car?

Thanks

Me: OEM genuine article original was slipping like a....very slippery thing

So far, so good. All power gooes to the ground, I have to press the clutch fully in (brand new clutch does that... ), and yes, it did cost a lot less than any aftermarket "performance" kits...

So you are saying the OEM clutch is good? Or very slippery?

Also, you mention you have to press the clutch fully in. I only have to press 1/3 of the way for me to change the gears, is that bad? Also, I notice I am losing clutch fluid, anyone know where to start looking? Thanks.

1.The oem mazda clutches are good in my experience. They are Exedy.
2.Start at the slave cylinder and work your way back to the master. Both slave and master are easy rebuild.I keep a rebuilt set at home and will exchange for cost of parts.

Thanks six rotors, I'll go check the cylinders when I get home.

Another question, after I do some 0-60 runs, (with some slip in 1st) when I shift into 2nd, the clutch slips. Do I have a bad clutch or it's my leaking fluid problem?

Thanks

The answer is - probably both. That fluid is going somewhere - usually the carpet pad.

Ok my clutch is just f**** It it wasnt suddle, I wasnt even in gear. I was just reccing the enigne for a buddy, and then when the rpms fell back to 2000 after letting off the gas it started screeching really loud. I had my foot on the clutch, its just something I do when I rev engines. Any way the engine died. Say I start the car. Its running fine, but as I start to push the clutch in I get a loud screeching sound, and also pull, like if I push the clutch in it will kill the enigne. If I give it some gas, like 4000 rpms, it wont do it, I can kind of put it in first and then I have to let off fast. Once IM moving im fine. But It will grind in first if Im not giving it enough RPMS and its really just bad. Reverse as well. YOu could just smell clutch burn. Yuck.. Someone said bleed your system. I did. Nothing different. Do I need a new clutch kit. Ive heard peopel say pressure plate, throw out bearings etc... NOw its starting to make noise even wihtout touching the clutch, very little noise but sounds like a rattling bearing or something I dont know much about trannies except The concept and how they work. Everyone says tranny has to be dropped, new clutch kit, flywheel has to come off and machined. THis soudns liek A LOT A LOT ALOT OF money. Can someone hook me up on a good good clutch kit and eveyrthign I need to fix this for cheap. Ive got enough other problems with the car this is something bad that I need to get out of the way. I have to drive american crap until I get this fixed.

LOL....I just replaced mine with a factory clutch and spent almost $700.00. I replaced EVERYTHING: Engine and Trans. Mounts, Clutch, Flywhee, Pressure Plate, TO Bearing, Pilot Bearing, Engine and Trans. seals, Slave and Master cylinder, hydraulic lines, and probably some things that I fogot!

Todd

PS. That was just for the parts and it was through Mazdacomp, I did all the work myself.

I could have done a factory clutch for about $225.00 if I was out to do it as cheaply as possible.

This would include:
Clutch
Pressure Plate
TO Bearing
Pilot Bearing
Front and Rear Trans. Seal
Rear Engine Seal

That would be from Mazdacomp.
