Clutch job -- should I replace the pilot bearing?

Hey,
I have an ACT street / strip clutch that I'll be installing on my J-Spec shortly, and I was wondering whether or not I need to replace the pilot bearing? Would it be OK if I just degreased / regreased it with high-temp grease? Replacing that thing looks rather difficult...

Thanks!,
Manolis

"Replacing that thing looks rather difficult... " Uh, so is pulling the tranny out when the pilot bearing goes bad after you do your clutch job. You should not cut corners.

Do some searching. There is plenty of info on getting those things out. Hell, you can just destroy the thing and pull it out bit by bit.

Definitely.

I had to pull my tranny just because the pilot bearing failed. Sucks when your car plugs along after you push the clutch pedal in because that damn little bearing is frozen.

I replaced *everything* clutch related while I had it out. It's not worth the trouble not to.
