A disk could be brand new, yet still be trashed if the surface on the disk has been glazed over enough. Material thickness plays an important role in determining the effectiveness of the clutch disk, but also the quality of the material. So just because you have enough material doesn't really mean it's good to go. I'd get a new disk if you could afford it. Otherwise, install it and find out.

most transmissions shops will remove the old material and install new material on your old clutch disc.

However this is not the best way to go.

I always go get a new clutch disc have them drill out the rivets, they use this epoxy to hold the disc material and then tapp rivet holes for new fastners.

this cost about $25 to have this done. It prevents the disc material from coming off the disc itself.. my .02 cents.

It needs to be replaced when the friction material is down to the rivets.
Once it hits the rivets, the rivets will gouge your flywheel / PP mating surfaces.
