Check for fluid around the clutch master and slave cylinder. This would be a sign of a loss of pressure.

This is also symptoms of a dieing release bearing. (happened to me)

Hi no fluid around the master or slave. It feels like something is getting stuck after i drive the car awhile, also after i let it sit i have to pump it three or four times to get pedal pressure back. I've also checked and the system has lost no fluid or gotten any air in.

More than likely its the master cylinder. Rx7s are notorious for clutch master and slave cylinders going bad. I had this similar problem on my last T2.

+1.

Try pumping the clutch after you drive it awhile too. If that works then its certainly the master cylinder.

i think the release bearing could come into play here. i have the same problem and cant downshift without rev matching and I cant upshift without double clutching.

i had replaced the master, slave, hose and no air is getting in. So the release bearing could very well be the problem.

If it is infact that .. how much of a pain in the *** is it to replace ?

Its not a pain to replace the clutch master cylinder if you have closed end wrenches.

It is a giant pain to replace the release bearing.
1. Drop Exhaust
2. Drop heat sheilding
3. Drop Driveshaft
4. Drop Tranny (starter first) (and shifter)
5. Replace Release Bearing.
6. Put tranny back in
7. put driveshaft back on
8. put heatsheild back on
9. put exhaust back on

All that for a $50.00 part.

If its the Pilot bearing that is going, then you have to remove the clutch and PP as well.

While the tranny is out though,
its approx $160 for a new OEM clutch kit (replaces pilot bearing, PP, Clutch and release bearing)
its maybe $15 for engine rear main seal
its approx $30 to resurface flywheel
its approx $20 to replace transmission front and rear seal.

Edit: made instructions for pilot bearing first.
