clockwise or counterclockwise

for the front and rear auxilary ports, which way is opened and which way is closed, respectively, for an S5? the dumb *** who owned the car before me has removed both, and i have no clue as to whether there open or closed, and id like to know when i reinstall them, so i get it right..

Standing to the right of the engine looking at the intake manifold:

Front rotor - clockwise opens valve
Rear rotor - counter-clockwise opens valve

Actuators retract to open auxiliary vavles. Test system after putting the actuators back. Place grease on rod, drive, then see if grease moved.
