Question Clinking in the Tranny?

My friends car is an N/A 86' and there seems to be a clinking noise coming from the tranny. But it can't be the tranny because it works just fine.

It almost sounds like there's something in there whirl-pooling around. Could it be the clutch, some broken part of the clutch? Or what's the deal? Any ideas?

So its a whirring noise? If so its your throw-out bearing.

Its not a whirring noise, its more like some part of the bellhousing has broken and is bouncing around, it doesnt get faster when the motor is revved and it only happens at random. Its a loud CLUNK, CLUNK, CLUNK.

Hey guys, Maybe I'm bad luck. Seems like whenever I come visit, something bad happens.. LOL

I wonder if one of the finger things that the throwout bearing pushes on broke off??

Or, do you think the speedo cable having issues can make that sound. Isnt there some gear thing where it plugs into the tranny?

Or.. a piece of the friction plate.. Is that what its called??

Anyway, maybe someone has a better idea.. Just sucks since you just had that thing out.

Well I've come to the conclusion that it's something loose or broken, and it's bouncing around and is probably causing more damage.

The question is, what is it?

sounds like you are gonna have to drop your tranny and see what the problem is. If something really is banging around, get it out NOW before it damages anything severely.

Think of it this way, you do not have to pay to use a gymnasium to lift weights, you can just drop your tranny a couple of times.
