Clicking while turning
Hey everyone. I have a 88t2 and my car has started making a popping/clicking noise while I turn to either direction. I have had a small leak in my power steering for a while but have continued to add fluid when I notice turning to become harder. Any ideas what's happening?

RWD cars use cv axles in the rear.
Well, first you need to fix that ps leak if its so bad that your running out of fluid. The ps pump relies on the fluid to lubricate and cool the pump, without fluid, the pump makes a wining noise and wears itself away very rapidly. Your going to get metal shavings throughout your steering system, and things just get worse. Remember to bleed the air out and recheck the fluid level. I like to do it when the front jacked up so there is no weight on the wheels, turn it all the way left and right a few times. If there is a lot of air you should turn off the car to let the bubbles settle. I cannot stress how fast a ps pump can go bad running low on fluid!
Usually clicking is something you hear from bad tie rod ends and ball joints, here is how to check
-jack up the front of the car
-remove key from ignition so steering wheel locks
-move the wheel in and out with both hands
-do it in the 12 and 6 o clock position and 3 and 9 o clock positions
-check ball joints, inner and outter tie rod ends, wheel bearings
Also you can use some big channel locks.
-jack up front end
-use channel locks to squeeze the ball joint or tie rod ends and see if you can get it to move up n down
