Chssis swap, need opinions and suggestions!
I recently decided that my '91 chassis isnt worth building up, but all the parts on it are worth keeping. I can get my ex' gf's poorly running 88gxl for $500 with a straight rust free body, i want to swap just about everything into the S4.5 chassis from the '91, heres my issues questions and what not.
Both cars have 5 lug with vented rear rotors
Both cars have power windows, doorlocks and security
Both have rear wipers sunroofs etc.
BOTH NA!
Which wiring harnesses should i use?
the turnsignals and hazards (along with a few other electrical components on the 88 have gone AWOL.
i'm using a fresh built S5 engine and probably the trans too, arent the s4 and s5 tranny mounts different?
which body harness should i use?
stick with manual belts?
stick with s4 gauge cluster?
s4 or s5 ac system?
use doors from s5?
lots to consider
planning on stripping the 88 to a rolling chassis and re-painting it black (like the 91) then building it up
emissions issues form using a '91 engine and emissions system in an 88?
lots to think about . . . any tips would be great

Welcome to my world. Personally I would say go for it but you'll need patience and time. It's been one month since i started my teardown/swap/rebuild/resurection and i just finnished the disassembly. A good body is a wonderful thing to have on a seven and down the road it will pay off but then again thats just my $0.02

S4 and S5 crossmembers are different. Just get the appropriate one and you'll be good.
