Checking if VDI is working?

Hmmm searched to no avail...
Seems like my 6 ports are working but the car gets super slow at 6K all the way to redline. VDI?

S5's pull out, not push in. Check the actuators on the lower intake, see if you can pull them out

Since they're air powered, have someone hold the throttle above 5200 and you should seen it actuate.

The engine needs to be under load. Unplug the hose from the solenoid and hook up a carb fuel pressure gauge and stick it under the wiper or something and go for a quick drive and see if it sees pressure at 5500rpm or so. If yes and it moves relatively freely then it should be working, if not on either case keep investigating to see what the problem is.

They are powered by the air pump which means the engine should be around 2500-3500rpm to operate them regaurdless of load. This is the reason Mazda uses solenoids.

Now actually going more toward your statement, I would have to check if mazda uses the pressure sensor as well as rpm to operate them.

Since they're air powered, have someone hold the throttle above 5200 and you should seen it actuate.
You could also hot wire the solenoid with the engine above 2500 but then that is only telling you that the solenoid is working and air pressure is getting to the actuator and that the actuator is moving free.

No, the engine needs to be under load for the solenoids to open allowing the pressure in to open the ports. The computer won't open them if the car's just sitting there doing 5500rpm, it's 5500 BTW, not 5200. Yes, you can bypass the solenoid to see if they open when sitting though, that'll tell you if it's a mechanical or electrical problem.
