Check engine light not on when key is in the on position??

Question Check engine light not on when key is in the on position??

Ok when i turn my key to on all the warning lights come on except the check engine light and the one right beside it is on for like 2 sec and then goes off, is this bad, does that mean it aint working,

Bump...i wanting to pull the codes but u cant if the dang check engine light isnt even on at all even when u turn the key to on....

i know if the light is working it should come on when u turn the key to on, ive had that car for a year now and that light hasent been on once and i crank my car everyday...lol

mine does the same thing, but sometimes it works. there should be a way to check codes from the ecu, but i haven't tried since i found the ecu sends ground signals.
the idiot light cluster is known for bad solder points, so this could be it. you could replace the light and see if that fixes it. you could volt test the wiring harness. you could check mazdamark.com and see what he's offering in the way of idiot light clusters.

Try pulling the codes anyway. Maybe grounding the single green test connector will make it work.

yeah i did that and now the light workds

lol but i have codes now check my other thread at the top i think they are 8 and 33

If you have removed emissions dont worry about it. About the AFM what exactly does it say for #8?
