Check engine light comes on for a second or two

Hmm I thought that the light was there to warn you about error codes about the ECU?

My dad was driving the car on the freeway at about 80, and he told me that if he would punch it, the check engine light would come on. When he let go of the throttle the light turned off.

Why would that happen? Strange!

thanks!

I know how to do it, but since the light went away, will the codes still be there?

Check your oil

High-revving 'Check Engine' light often means that there is not enough oil for the oil pump to built up pressure...especially during turns. Check oil quickly....

Never heard that before but i guess its something new to look out for. I thought usually if you get a check engine light while the car is underload it can either be a TPS problem or 02 or at least something along those lines. The only real way to know for sure is to pull the code

My oil was full and so was my coolant. I'll go check the codes right now. Thanks!

I got code 17 which is for the O2 sensor. Do I need to replace it?
