Angry Check engine light....

So I finally get around to fixing my idle problems, while adjusting the idle screw on the intake manifold, I glanced at the warning lights.... hmm.. the check engine light is flashing (I had already grounded the test connector) ... I got 1 long and 3 shorts... so according to the manual this is the intake pressure sensor... (right?? )

How might I go about checking this, to determine whether it is the sensor or the harness? I will follow the procedure in the FSM tomorrow, but the real problem is that I have no vacuum pump ...anyone have any ideas as to what the voltage reading is supposed to be at normal atmospheric pressure? (approx.) Or does anyone have any other suggestions?

the manual shows how to test it.

Also check this page for voltages..

http://www.teamfc3s.org/info/articles/fcd/diy_fcd.htm

Look at the table of the voltages.

Hmm... I think I may see what you were getting at....

2H is an ECU input, connects to the pressure sensor, and should be tested with the ignition switch on. With the vacuum hose disconnected and plugged, it should read 3.4-3.6V. With 100 mmHg (3.9 inHg) of vacuum, applied to the switch, it should read 2.8-3.2V.

Question though... isnt the voltage output dependant on the pressure? meaning that depending on what pressure it is plugged at, it will give a different reading?

I'm thinking that it probably doesn't matter, because the sensor is probably fried anyway...

Anyone got a 89 N/A pressure sensor to sell??
